From 22–24 April, NME hosted the Team Norway Pavilion at Sea Japan 2026 in Tokyo.

Sea Japan 2026 marked the largest edition of the exhibition to date, gathering more than 34,000 participants over three days. This underlines the event’s strong position as a key meeting place for the Japanese and wider Asian maritime industry.

Ahead of the exhibition, the Norwegian Embassy’s Trade and Technology Office and the Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in Japan organised the “Norway Decarbonization Forum” on 21 April, followed by a networking dinner at the Ambassador’s Residence. The event gathered around 75 participants, including Japanese shipowners and maritime stakeholders, and provided a valuable platform for discussions on decarbonisation and green maritime solutions. Several Norwegian companies contributed to the seminar programme, including the NME member companies NAVTOR, Metizoft and Corvus Energy.

The exhibition opened with a formal ceremony, including welcome remarks from Christopher Eve of Informa Markets Japan, followed by State Minister Yasuyuki Sakai. The opening ceremony also featured a keynote address from the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, George Glass.

Throughout the exhibition, the Team Norway Pavilion served as an important platform for Norwegian equipment and service providers to showcase their solutions and connect with industry stakeholders in the region. The pavilion saw significant interest and steady activity throughout all three days.

The following companies exhibited in the Team Norway Pavilion:

NAVTOR, BASSnet, UniSea, TMC Compressors, Corvus Energy, WRLEADING GROUP, StormGeo and Metizoft.

In addition to the exhibition, NME organised a joint networking reception together with the Danish pavilion. The event gathered a substantial number of attendees and provided valuable opportunities for networking and dialogue. Opening remarks were delivered by Erlend Prytz (NME), Riikka Kuusilehto (Danish Export Association) and Oddbjørn Lunde (Norwegian Embassy in Tokyo), highlighting the importance of Nordic cooperation in the maritime sector.

We would like to thank all participating companies and visitors who joined us in Tokyo last week.

We look forward to returning to Sea Japan in 2028!
